In one of the best locations of Paris in the 6th arrondissement, 3 minutes from the Northwest entrance of the Luxembourg gardens, 7 minutes to Aux Deux Magots and 10 minutes to the Bon Marché, this completely renovated, 2 Bedroom apartment overlooking two courtyards provides a quiet retreat from the heart of Saint Germain des Prés.

The rich urban decor enlivens the classic living room. The living room features a plasma TV, DVD player, and full stereo, including iPod dock. The apartment is wired for Ethernet and convenient WIFI internet connection.

Benefiting from its position on the top 5th floor (6th floor American), the living room captures sunlight well into the evening and is a warm room for entertaining, a quiet evening reading, or watching the plasma TV.

This striking kitchen is designed completely to modern standards. It is fully equipped with microwave/conventional oven, refrigerator and freezer, coffee machine, toaster, dishwasher and laundry washer/dryer. The countertop is natural oak stained in rich tobacco color and the chalkboard lends a hint of bistro atmosphere. There is a window for more light and fresh air, overlooking the courtyard.
The small bar is perfect for drinking an espresso while reading Le Monde or the International Herald Tribune.
Clean , polished design and luxurious decor creates a soothing ambience in your home away from home. Master bedroom suite features a king size bed with ample closets and access to master bath. Its walls are in calming tones, with rich textured curtains, with full ceiling to floor built in closet.
The adjoining full master suite bath is handsome and understated in design, with broad grey tiles with ebony accents. The warm cherry wood counter with beautiful square sink is the focus, with modern fixtures and a full soaking tub. There is a towel warming rack.

The second bedroom faces East to capture morning sunlight from the penultimate floor. Here it is set up with a king size bed. The walls are saturated in deep aubergine and grey colors, infused with Asian accents, with painting by artist Mathieu Ducourneau.
The second bathroom is designed as a variation in grey and dark taupe mosaic tiles. It is located directly across the hall from the second bedroom and includes an oversized rainbath shower head.
Rue de Vaugirard is a beautifully appointed, two bedroom apartment on the fifth floor of a 19th century Haussmann building. It is adjacent to the Jardin du Luxembourg and was completely renovated to contemporary standards in early 2007. Its ideal location is perfect for those who want to explore Paris but also want to inhabite it like a native. It is literally minutes away from the Bon Marché, Cafe de Flore and just short promenades to the Musée d’Orsay, Notre Dame and the Sorbonne. Its high floor and courtyard settings makes it quiet, luxurious retreat from the bustle of the urban city life of St Germain des Pres.

This well lit and spacious apartment came as a welcome relief from the earlier
hotel closets rooms we spent our time in. The interior
decoration screams class in every room and could very well be used as a spread
in any home design magazine. More importantly, the owners have gone out of
their way to make it feel like home. Nothing says welcome more than leaving the
kettle on the stove. The thoughtfully detailed maps and restaurant
recommendations, etc. helped mitigate the panic which invariably rises when
faced with seemingly infinite choices in a foreign land.
The bedrooms are large and very comfortable. Reliable sources also account for
the living room sofa which no doubt over time has soothed many a domestic
contentions that happenstanced over differing plans (or lack thereof) for the
day, but this writer refuses to cannot personally vouch for
Our stern advice to wanna be French chefs on entering the apartment and
drooling over the kitchen is, desist! Do not succumb! Open a window, stick
your head out and take a few deep breaths. Your gastronomic
experiments endeavours will lead you to the same belated
realization. The kitchen does lack an essential ingredient...a Le Cordon Bleu
chef...But, take heart, this cloud too has a silver lining; there is no dearth
of fantastic restaurants within walking distance of the apartment and your
fellow travellers will appreciate and applaud your sacrifice.
In our opinion being on foot provides one with more personal touch in any new
city and we can safely say that the location of this apartment will satisfy
even the most ambitious craving of the French experience. You can take a
meandering walk to the Notre Dame or buy a carnet and carrom to even the most
remote location via the metro. For those interested, please note that some of
the metro trains have rubber tyres (which for some bizarre reason my better
half did not find an interesting subject for discussion and analysis).
Feel free to pack a fedora hat and a trench coat. Where else in the world would

Our one complaint was the inexplicable tendency of the local populace to
communicate in a foreign language. Our plan is to rent this apartment again for
our next few trips to help cure them of this boorish behaviour.
After staying in hotels in six different countries over three weeks, it was wonderful to settle in Paris at 39 Rue de Vaugirard for our last week of vacation. We were able to wander through the surrounding neighborhood which was relatively quiet but close enough to major attractions and public transport, cook and take advantage of the nearby markets and boulangeries, go for a run in Luxembourg Gardens (in direct correlation to the intake of fresh baguettes), sit in a local cafe to people watch or joke with the waiters who were frequently charming and wry or best of all just relax in a lovely apartment setting and read a book or surf the web if one was so inclined. A home away from home with a French twist.
My husband and I stayed in the apartment in January for a week and absolutely adored it. The 2bd/2ba flat is beautifully appointed, very comfortable, and in my favorite area of Paris. With multiple metro stops, fabulous restaurants, great shopping and Luxembourg Gardens all within blocks - it's the ideal place to stay in Paris. In addition, it's a very quite flat, definitely a great place for families given the roomy layout, and the building has an elevator too! We are definitely looking forward to coming back soon!
We spent Christmas week in the flat and could not have enjoyed it more. Everything worked well-- and what didn't was repaired promptly by Phillippe. The flat was sun filled-- no easy feat in December-- and warm. The rooms are well layed out. We even managed a dinner party for 7. Wish we owned it ourselves!
Oh yes, the elevator made access a no brainer -- no steps to climb! Good news with groceries in hand or after dinner...
We just got back from a 2 month trip and 39 Vaugirard was one of the highlights along with Porquerolles, France, Aix-en-Provence and the archipelago in near Turku, Finland. For a cityscape experience this apartment is the top-- great location, excellent designer details, and very reasonable price point (it was hands down better than any hotel setting in Paris, the best of all the apartment offers we looked at). We enjoyed eating out all but one dinner, lazy breakfasts at home, shopping at the open air market on the Blvd Raspail for provisions, and great bottles of wine from a few different nearby wine shops. All the best shops are within 10 minutes walk, the area is 100% safe and the apartment has lots of great light on the 6th floor! Thanks for putting together such a great place. See you next year!
We stayed in the apartment in April and LOVED it. The location is close to the luxenbourg gardens, shopping, metro, great restaurants, and is one of my favorite areas in Paris. My children loved the playground in the gardens, and the bakery next door. I will go back and stay again next year. The apartment was also beautifully decorated and very quiet.

We recently completed a European 3 city tour with our 2 children, and Paris was the highlight because of our experience at 39Vaugirard. The apartment immersed us in the Parisian experience because of its proximity to authentic locales frequented by its city dwellers-a farmer's market, the Jardins du Luxembourg, St. Germain des Pres, to name a few. The apartment itself flattered us by making us think we were French(we wish!), as we gazed out at the wonderfully quintessential windowboxes of nearby apts and heard French conversations drifting up through the courtyards the apt overlooks. Perhaps as instrumental in shaping our experience were the well written, spot-on reviews, provided by the apt's owners, of the city's noteworthy and/or neighborhood restaurants, shops and activities, so that with nary a misstep, we were knee deep in the fabulous food and delightful adventures that we came to Paris seeking.
